Garden Valley Travel Club

GVHS Travel Club

The Garden Valley School District has established the travel club that allows students to travel to cities, countries, and continents to learn about other cultures, economic systems, and governments. The GVHS Travel Club is taking an 11 day tour to London, England and Edinburgh, Scotland and Belfast, Ireland in June of 2010 with EF Educational Tours. While in London we will be traveling to Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guard, Piccadilly Circus, the London Bridge and the Tower of London, Big Ben, and Grosvenor Square. Then we will be taking a night train to Edinburgh where we will visit the Edinburgh and Stirling Castles, the Trossachs and Loch Katrine, and finally the William Wallace Monument. In Ireland we will be traveling to Derry and Giant's Causeway on the last leg of our tour.

Each member of the club is responsible for raising approximately $3,400 to cover the cost of this tour. The primary source of income for these young people is through fundraising, sponsorships, and donations. Recently we have sold cookie dough, wreaths, held bake sales, chili feeds, and have sold snacks during concessions at middle school and high school basketball and volleyball games. We also hold an elementary movie night once a month during school which has been extremely successful. We would like to thank all those who have supported us in our endeavor of traveling abroad.
The travel club is selling garden baskets in an attempt to raise money for the next trip.
