Welcome to Second Grade!

Folders--Each Monday through Wednesday, students will take home their homework folder. We will have math homework that needs to be completed and returned the following day. Each Monday your child's finished papers and notes will come home, also.

Class Rules--Students are expected to raise hands before speaking; keep from interrupting others; remain quite during work times; keep hands, feet and objects to themselves; and coopertate with adults and other students. Be sure to read over the school's student handbook.

Daily Schedule--Class begins at 8:05 A.M. Students may ride the bus to and from school. Parents need to inform the teacher of the bus the child rides.

Students will be dismissed to their bus or parents at 3:40 P.M. Parents must send a signed, written note when making other transportation plans after school. The note needs to indicate where and with whom the child will travel. VERBAL MESSAGES ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

Book Orders--Scholastic Book order forms will come home about once a month. Ordering is optional of course, but this is a good and relatively inexpensive source of books for your home. Please return the order with the money in a clearly marked envelope. If you want to pay by check, please make the check out directly to Scholastic Books.

Sharing--We will have Show and Tell only when someone has something of interest to share. Please let Mrs. Arnold know when you would like to bring something to the class.

I expect this to be a successful year for the students. I look forward to working with your child.

WELCOME TO SECOND GRADE!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Arnold

Grading

Daily assignments receive a "1, 2, or 3". One means better work is needed, 2 means work is at grade level, and 3 means work is above and beyond expectations. If corrections need to be made then, assignments will be redone before going home.

Larger projects will receive points for various areas of emphasis such as neatness, grammar, correct spelling, completion, etc. Graded projects will be completed in class.
