New Principal - Travis Deardorff

From Travis:

I graduated from Boise State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in K-12 Kinesiology and a minor in Health. I began my teaching career in Idaho City teaching high school science under an emergency contract, where I quickly earned a Natural Sciences endorsement. Teaching in a small, close-knit community helped me discover my passion for making a meaningful impact on students’ lives.

I later joined Ridgeline Alternative High School, where I taught physical education, science, speech, and life skills while supporting students facing challenges such as attendance, behavior, and homelessness. After four years, I transitioned to Rocky Mountain High School, where I spent ten years teaching Astronomy, Biology, and Earth Science. During that time, I focused on strengthening my classroom instruction while mentoring student teachers and new educators, which inspired me to pursue educational leadership.

In 2023, I earned my Master’s in Educational Leadership from Boise State University and became Vice Principal/Athletic Director in Wilder. In that role, I helped foster a culture of high expectations, supported teachers through mentorship, and continued building strong relationships with students and the community.

Originally from Billings, Montana and raised in the Treasure Valley, I live with my wife Janet between Meridian and Terrace Lakes. We have two children and two grandchildren. Outside of education, I enjoy athletics, competing in adult basketball, volleyball, and softball, and recently completed a full restoration of a 1951 Dodge B3C.

I look forward to the opportunity to serve the Garden Valley community with transparency, dedication, and a strong commitment to students and families. Go Wolverines!
