New PE/Health Teacher Dan Hansen

A Message from our new teacher---

Hello Idahoans!  My name is Dan Hansen and I'm so jazzed that I will be joining the Wolverine faithful!  I'm bringing my family over from Billings, MT!  My wife Eve and I have three amazing children. Dakota (Kodi) just graduated this month from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Music Performance and Education.  She is also getting married on August 1st and I'm so blessed she chose such an amazing young man (Riley Schiff).  My son Parker will be going into his junior year at Western Montana University in Dillon, MT to be a High School History/Government teacher.  And finally the one kiddo I will be bringing with me into THE hall at Garden Valley School, Charleigh will be an 8th grader this fall.  We will be bringing two amazing Blue-nosed Pitbulls down as well who are pathetically awesome (and I use them in a lesson plan with approval from admin of course).  I will be coming in as the full-time Physical Education (possibly Health) teacher, and I can't wait to start this next stage of life with all of you!  I love Fantasy Football (I've used it in teaching and also with colleagues in the past as a bonding tool), going to the movies with my beautiful wife, and playing with the Pitties, Bode and Rocky!

What I bring with me is 20 years of working with extreme at-risk youth in both group home/school environments, as well as 9 years in the public-school systems in Montana.  I have a Bachelors and Master's Degree in Health and Physical Education from Eastern Washington University (The home of the most hideous Red Football Field...LOL).  My father was an educator for 29 years and has always been MR. HANSEN.  I have donned the cap of being called Coach Hansen throughout my time with youth.  I believe that sport is a powerful tool for developing and cultivating relationships with students and student athletes.  I am so grateful for this opportunity and I will do everything I can to be the man, teacher, mentor, coach, and colleague you all deserve!  In the words of C. Thomas Howell in the original Red Dawn....."WOLVERINES!!!”
